Concrete removal takes out an old driveway, patio, sidewalk or slab so the ground can be used again. Florida's Contracting and Land Services handles concrete removal around Katy, Texas and the west side of Houston. Our excavator breaks out the old concrete and loads it onto trucks, and the trucking is arranged. We have cleared out old concrete to make way for a new driveway.
The work is for homeowners on acreage and in neighborhoods, and for farmers and ranchers. Breaking out old concrete is part of our excavation work. If a house or barn still stands on the slab, house and barn demolition comes first. Call or text (979) 824-2296, and we look at the job and put the quote in writing.

Driveway removal starts when an old drive has cracked and sunk, or when a new drive needs the room. Patio removal follows the same steps, and so do old sidewalks. The excavator breaks the concrete into pieces and loads them onto trucks.
Once the concrete is out, the ground can take a new gravel driveway or a parking area. Crushed concrete is one rock choice for that drive. The state highway department's road base spec allows it in one of its base types.
Where a driveway meets a public road, the office that runs the road issues the permit. Unincorporated Fort Bend County requires a permit to connect a driveway to a county-maintained road. Harris County requires one before an existing driveway on county right of way is replaced.
The excavator does the concrete breaking, then loads the pieces onto trucks for the trip off your property. Texas has rules on where that load may go.
Texas law counts discarded building or construction materials as litter. Dumping litter anywhere but an approved solid waste site is an offense. That covers a right of way and other public or private land. The law makes a few exceptions for an owner's own waste on the owner's own land.
In its disaster debris guide, the state environmental agency lists concrete, bricks and stones as construction and demolition waste. It says many of those materials can be recycled, and the rest should go to an authorized landfill. Its landfill guide lists that waste as allowed at municipal landfills in Texas. Each landfill can still choose not to take some kinds of waste.
Concrete slab removal often follows a teardown, since a house on a slab leaves that concrete behind. Slabs under old sheds, shops and barns come out the same way. Once the slab is loaded out, the finishing dozer levels the ground as part of our dirt work.
Federal soil scientists describe the Katy soils as coastal prairie, mostly on slopes under 1 percent. On ground that flat, a few inches of grade decide where the rain goes once the slab is gone.
South toward Rosenberg and East Bernard, the ground is Lake Charles clay. In dry spells it cracks 1/2 to 2 inches wide at the surface. The cracks stay open a total of 60 to 90 days in most years. That clay is the ground a new drive or pad will sit on.

Brush gets mulched in place where that fits, and the digging follows the plan in the quote. Anything headed off the site gets loaded onto trucks we arrange.
We clean up when the machines are done. The ground is then ready for its next use, like a house pad or a new fence.
