House demolition clears an old home off the lot so the ground can be used again. Florida's Contracting and Land Services takes on house demolition around Katy, Texas and the west side of Houston. We take down residential houses and barns up to about 5,300 square feet, plus sheds and old concrete. The work suits homeowners with an old house to clear and people getting a lot ready to build on.
Demolition fits with our land clearing in Katy, since both get a lot ready for what comes next. A midsize excavator of about 40,000 pounds takes the structure down and loads the debris into trucks. If you want the ground cut level afterward, the finishing dozer gets the lot ready for a new house pad.
Tell us about the land, the fence or the drainage problem and where it is. We look at the job and put the quote in writing.
Barn demolition follows the same steps as a house. An old barn or a leaning shed often stands where a new building or a pasture should go. We take the structure down and load out the debris. Then the ground gets cleaned up.
Concrete removal often comes with a demolition job. A house on a slab leaves that concrete behind, and an old driveway may need to come out too. We break out the old concrete and load it out so the ground can be graded. Pouring new concrete is another trade.
An old house or barn is often grown over with brush. Clearing the brush and small trees around it can be part of the same job.
It depends on where the property sits. Inside Katy city limits, the city's Permit and Building Services office lists demolition among the work that needs a permit. Rosenberg requires a city permit to demolish any building or structure. Other cities in the area run their own permit offices, so ask the one that covers your address.
Outside city limits, the county is the office to ask. Unincorporated Harris County requires no demolition permit, though building on the lot afterward needs one. In unincorporated Fort Bend County, the county Engineering Department asks for a permit for any work in a floodplain. Its list also covers fill or digging that changes the ground elevation by six inches or more.
Asbestos paperwork varies by office too. Brookshire's demolition permit checklist lists an asbestos report. The state health department says one private residence needs no asbestos demolition notice. The permit office for your address has the final word on what it needs.
A demolition contractor with dirt equipment can take the job past the teardown. Once the debris is loaded out, the site gets cleaned up. Then the ground work can follow on the same job.
If you want the ground cut level, the finishing dozer does that next. Low spots and the ruts left by the machines get worked out. A level lot is ready for a new build or a pasture.
Some cities set rules for the lot after a demolition. Rosenberg's code gives 30 days to clear the debris and fill holes to grade. Fulshear's permit asks for the foundation and concrete flatwork to come out and the lot graded so no water stands.

Brush gets mulched in place where that fits, and the digging follows the plan in the quote. Anything headed off the site gets loaded onto trucks we arrange.
We clean up when the machines are done. The ground is then ready for its next use, like a house pad or a new fence.
