Questions About Land Clearing and Fencing Around Katy
These are the questions homeowners, farmers and ranchers around Katy ask
us most. They cover land clearing, fencing, drainage, dirt work and the
written quote. If yours is not here, call or text and we will answer it.
We take land clearing jobs of about 10 acres or smaller. Much of it is brush clearing on lots and pastures, plus ground cleared for a new house. A single overgrown backyard is worth a call too.
What happens to the brush and trees you clear?
Where it fits, we mulch brush and small trees in place with the mulching head on our skid steer. In Harris and Fort Bend Counties, state rules allow burning land clearing brush only when no practical alternative exists. Forestry mulching is one of the alternatives the state lists. When material has to leave the site, we load it out, and the trucking is arranged.
Do I need a permit to clear land around Katy?
It depends on where the land sits and how much ground gets disturbed. Inside city limits, the city's permit office decides, and outside them, the county does. Clearing that disturbs an acre or more of soil can also fall under the state's construction stormwater permit. When we look at the job, we point you to the right office.
How does pricing work?
We price each job after we look at it. For land clearing, the acreage and how thick the brush and trees are drive the price. Access for the machines matters too, and so does any material that has to be trucked off. Call or text (979) 824-2296, and the quote comes to you in writing.
Is Florida's Contracting a Texas company?
Yes. Texas is our home, and all of our work is in Texas. Our service area runs north to Hempstead and south to Sargent, west and south of Houston. Fulshear, Rosenberg, Sealy and East Bernard are part of it too.
Do you build and repair fence?
Yes, on farms and in neighborhoods. On farm and ranch land, we clear the line first and then build ranch fence with pipe posts and H-braces. We can also cut and drive pipe for an owner who wants to string the wire. In neighborhoods, we repair wood privacy fences and build new ones with a rot board.
My yard holds water after a rain. What fixes that?
A French drain often does. Houses in many neighborhoods sit close together, and mowing packs down the narrow side yards. Water can then sit by the gate, and a French drain gives it a way out. We also run gutter downspouts into drain lines underground.
Do you tear down houses and barns?
Yes. Our house demolition work covers houses and barns up to about 5,300 square feet, plus sheds and old concrete. We load out the debris with trucking we arrange, then level the ground if you want. Inside Katy city limits, the city requires a permit for demolition.
Do you carry insurance for this work?
Yes. Florida's Contracting is insured for excavation work and can be bonded on a job when it is required. If your job calls for a bond, tell us when you call.
